Wedding Taco Catering FAQs

Wedding taco catering has its own timing, venue and coordination needs. Cocktail hour, dinner service, planners, vendor meals, tastings, dessert timing and indoor or outdoor setup all need to work together on the same schedule.

LaLa Tacos has catered hundreds of weddings throughout Southern California. These answers cover the practical questions couples, planners and venues ask most often when considering taco catering for a wedding, welcome party or reception.

Frequently Asked Questions About Wedding Taco Catering

Can my wedding planner or coordinator communicate directly with LaLa Tacos?

Yes. Once your wedding is booked, you’ll have a dedicated LaLa Tacos coordinator who can work directly with you or your wedding coordinator throughout the planning process.

Can my planner receive the Formal Quote at the same time I do?

Our system sends Formal Quotes and orders to one email address at a time. You’re welcome to forward the Formal Quote to your planner or anyone else who needs a copy.

Do you offer complimentary wedding tastings?

Yes. LaLa Tacos offers complimentary tastings for qualifying events. A tasting gives you an opportunity to experience the food before making your catering decision.

How long does a complimentary tasting appointment usually take?

Complimentary tasting appointments usually take about 30 to 45 minutes.

Can I reschedule my complimentary tasting?

Yes. Once we send you your tasting invitation, you can use the scheduling link to reschedule your appointment.

How early do you arrive to set up before the wedding reception?

We typically arrive 1 to 1.5 hours before your scheduled service time. This gives our team plenty of time to route our transport vehicles, position the carts, prep the salsa bar, and ensure the grills are hot and ready before your first guest approaches the line.

Can I request specific proteins for my complimentary tasting?

Our complimentary tastings normally include Carne Asada, Chicken, Carnitas, and an assortment of our salsas.

Can I taste premium proteins at my complimentary tasting?

Our standard complimentary tasting includes Carne Asada, Chicken, Carnitas, and an assortment of our salsas. If you have a Formal Quote for Menu 4 or Menu 6, we may also have some of those premium proteins available to taste. Availability is not guaranteed.

Should I include vendors in the food count if they will be eating?

Yes. If your vendors will be eating the main meal, they should be included in your guest count. You generally do not need to include them for appetizers, since many vendors are working during that portion of the event. You also do not need to include LaLa Tacos team members in your vendor meal count.

Can appetizers be served during cocktail hour before taco service?

Yes. We can serve appetizers before taco service and coordinate the timing with you or your event coordinator.

Can the appetizer station stay open after taco service begins?

Yes. The appetizer station can remain open after taco service begins. However, once our team is actively serving tacos and maintaining the taco bar, appetizer replenishment may be more limited.

Can churros be served later than the tacos?

Yes. Normally, churro service begins shortly after taco service is completed.

If you would like churro service to begin one hour or more after taco service ends, additional service time will need to be purchased.

Can desserts be served later in the evening after taco service ends?

Yes. Desserts can be served later in the evening after taco service ends.

If serving dessert requires our team to remain on-site beyond the scheduled service time, additional service time will need to be purchased. The cost is $50 per employee for each additional 30 minutes.

Can your staff cut and serve our wedding cake?

We prefer not to handle cakes provided by outside vendors or the host, but we have done so before.

If you would like our staff to cut and serve your wedding cake, please ask us in advance. If we are able to accommodate the request, an additional service charge will apply.

Can you cater inside a hotel or resort?

Yes. We can cater at hotels and resorts, but the setup depends on where the catering area is located.

For indoor service, propane is not permitted, so we would need to use one of our propane-free taco carts or another approved setup.

For an outdoor patio or terrace, a propane taco cart may be possible, but the hotel or resort must approve it in advance.

Please confirm the venue’s catering and propane rules before the event so we can plan the correct setup.

Can you cater indoors if propane isn’t allowed?

Yes. We have propane-free indoor taco carts that can be used at venues where propane or live cooking is not permitted in the guest area. Depending on the venue, some food preparation may take place in an approved kitchen or outdoor service area, while the indoor cart is used for serving.

What happens if my event starts late and your scheduled service time has already begun?

Our team provides a 30-minute grace period when an event is running behind schedule.

Please notify us as early as possible. If we receive only a few minutes’ notice, our team may have already prepared tortillas, food, or other items for the scheduled start time. In that situation, we cannot guarantee that everything already prepared can be replaced without affecting quantities or service.

For delays of more than 30 minutes, our team will contact management and advise the host or coordinator that additional time is $50 per employee for each additional 30 minutes.

Every situation is different, and any exception or adjustment to this policy is at management’s discretion.

How long do you serve?

Service time depends on what you order. For taco service only, we typically serve for 1 hour for fewer than 50 guests and 1.5 hours for 50 guests or more.

We do not rush your guests. If people are still eating and service is naturally wrapping up, our team will use reasonable judgment rather than abruptly shutting everything down at the exact minute.

Can I add extra service time?

Yes. You can request additional service time from the LaLa Tacos lead at your event.

Additional time is $50 per employee for each additional 30 minutes.

Please do not offer cash directly to our employees unless LaLa Tacos management has specifically authorized them to accept payment for the additional time.
